What we've been up to!

I'm really not so good at this whole blogging thing and yet I feel compelled to try again. So it's time for an update. Soooo much has happened in the last 8 months. Heck, Jake is almost done with his second year of medical school. It's been a hard year for him, very challenging and it has made him stretch and grow. I think he's handled it like a champ, but he probably wouldn't say the same thing. He has 3 more months left and then he will start studying for the 1st Board Exam which he will take on June 12th. Basically that is his day of freedom and so we are going to celebrate, I'm not sure how but we're going to, but we are going to do something! After that he will head into his PhD for the next 3-4 years. He's excited for that, it's definitely not as intense and will be a nice break before he heads into his 2 clinical years before he graduates.

Jake and I went on a dinner cruise in the harbor with the people from the MD/PhD program. The Ravenel Bridge is beautiful at night.

Me, I'm just the same old, same old. I've been keeping very busy with work and Young Womens. Between the 2 they pretty much consume my life but being the Young Women's President has to be one of the most fulfilling things that I have done in my life. I LOVE those girls, they are like my little sisters. We've made some really great friends in Charleston and we keep busy getting together!
These were some friends that we had Thanksgiving with. They're the best!

We've been on a couple of trips this year. We went to Asheville early November to celebrate Jake's birthday. We saw the Biltmore which is the largest house in America, at least for now. It's in the Smokey Mountains and it was the fall, which was amazing! Asheville is a very quirky and easy to fall in love with! We went home for Christmas and that was, of course, great. We were there for 10 days and got to spend lots of time with our family and friends. Some people we hadn't seen for almost 2 years. We just got back from Myrtle Beach where we went and visited a couple friends and we are going to Washington D.C. at the end of March. We're going to meet Jake's dad up there and go to the temple and do some site seeing. It's really fun being on the East coast and we are trying to take advantage of the opportunities to visit this side of the country while we are out here.

The Biltmore
 A cute couple! :)
We did a bit of hiking on our trip to Asheville. Apparently this is where a scene from The Hunger games was filmed.
Our ugly sweaters for the Ugleeee Sweater Party!
My awesome family when we visited them for Christmas!
 Good friends in Myrtle Beach!
It actually snowed in Myrtle Beach, it was the weirdest thing!

And then there is Zane which is the cutest thing that has entered my life! We both love him. Everyone else was having children so we got a dog! Just kidding, that's not really why we got a dog. We just felt like it was a good time in our lives to get one and within a couple of days we knew that we had made the right decision. He is just like a toddler and I can't imagine having 2 "toddlers" in the house when we have kids, getting into everything and teaching each other bad habits. He's been a joy to have, he's my little shadow and follows me everywhere which is just adorable. He's already doubled in weight in the 3 weeks that we have had him, a whopping 21 pounds and he's only 13 weeks old.

The day that we brought him home.
 Zane cuddling up with me!
He likes to drink out of the shower!
 Soaking up some sun!
When we were making our bed today, he decided to take over our covers.
